The postcard drawings done between 1997-2008 were about doodling and free associating on easily available source of paper. Recurring themes depicted on the cards were self portraits examining inner psychological states, the head as a sculptural form, and abstract sculptural thoughts or reveries. There was also a subversive or “Guerilla art” agenda that motivated drawings on these cards. The postcards can be found in pubs and other commercial outlets and contain advertisements for alcohol or any number of other products. By taking one of these cards and mailing it, you are on one level acting as an unpaid agent for the company. By drawing on the card or recycling it into “art” I was mischievously intervening in this process.
